The Thorny Rose of Sparta

Niska hides her Ares combat skill until an attack kills the Aspis clan's warriors, proving she is the true heir.

Spartan law bars women from Ares combat, so Niska trains in secret while the Aspis family sees her only as a girl to protect. When their enemies attack and kill the house's best fighters, Niska steps onto the bloodied sand and outclasses every surviving man. Her lethal precision reveals that she alone carries the ancient strength of the true heir.
