Overlooked by a father who adores her scheming half-sister Madison, Iris Carter falls for bodyguard Ryan Vanderbilt during college, unaware he is a dynastic heir. At graduation she learns he courted her solely to reach Madison, then spends years watching him enable Madison's cruelty. Desperate to escape, Iris volunteers to replace Madison in a proxy marriage to Liam Archibald, the comatose scion of a rival family, severing ties with Ryan. When Liam awakens, their contractual union unexpectedly deepens into authentic affection, revealing a long-hidden connection between their households.
